BFA Show

I went to see the show after its opening after class one day. It was really something else. There were a lot of things that I had enjoyed. However, there were a few that really caught my eye. The Endeavors piece was so hilarious. Where she had taken a couples picture of her with different boys. I couldn't stop laughing. At first I didn't really pay attention and thought it was some weird conceptual piece but when I REALLY looked at it was when I noticed the actual pictures. Another piece that I had enjoyed were the large figure drawings that were half painted. Well the skin was painted. It was really cool and made me think about how it revealed the subject almost. I like that sort of thing. The hot dog thing didn't sit well with me only because I could only image what it'll look like after being inside a warm building for a while. I didn't even want to know what it would smell or look like. Seeing this show had got me thinking of what I want to do for some own personal projects. I won't be in a BFA because I am a BA but I can still work on things to that scale.

Mountains

Yesterday my friend and I went up to Chimney Rock near Lake Lure. It was so much fun! I took my sketchbook with me and when we were down by the river that runs behind the place that we had lunch at. It had me thinking about what I wanted to do for my final project. All I have left is the prints/ multiple but I don't want to do something so cliche. Everyone has seen mountains and rivers and pretty pretty so I probably won't do anything with what I had. But the scenery was beautiful for the time of year. It wasn't peak season but it was actually still very cool. I used to go up there all the time when I was little and then again with girl scouts, but this was good. I will probably go up to blue ridge next year with my friend, maybe then I'll take some paints or something else I can do with another studio class.

Pre Power project

I know we haven't even gone through the first part or anything but i'm ready. I went to an air show this past Saturday and the power behind these machines from WWII and some from the Korean war. The ending scene was Tora Tora Tora Tora and was insane. I have so many ideas and I think that I am going to use the sound from these powerful machines. I am excited to start this project.

Mint Museum

The mint museum was completely worth going. I literally thought that I was not going to enjoy it and that it would have been just a waste of gas. But I am so glad that I went. The Mayan and American art was neat and so was some of the Euro Renaissance art but I enjoyed the wearables. The clothes and the time periods inspired me. Not just with my art but with my writting. I love to write stories and escape in fantasies, and this just sent my imagination on a whirl wind. I would love to go back and spend a longer while in the department. I know when I went to the Metropolitain in NY a few years ago I missed out on the clothing exhibit but this made up for it.

Ecology

I had a lot of fun with this project. I had struggled because it was such a vast subject and it was easy to become cliche with the assignment. That was the last thing I wanted to do. I tried to do something that was a little over done but put a twist on it. I wanted to challenge myself with something a little harder than telling people that they needed to recycle or cut back on their waste. I used accumulation and instead of a heaping pile of trash I altered it to a book. The snap comments are to lighten the reader so the meaning won't bear too much weight.
